Making it's debut Saturday, September 13, 1969 at 10:30 a.m. and continuing until 1985, the Scooby-Doo cartoons show a group of teenagers and their dog as they travel around in their Mystery Machine and always find a mystery that needs to be solved. At the end of every show, through some clever plan, they capture the ghost who turns out to be someone they already met.

Scooby-Doo
Full Name:Scoobert
A huge, lumbering Great Dane, Scooby-Doo typically cowers with fright as the mascot of Mystery, Inc. Lovable but chicken-hearted, Scooby must be coaxed into scary situations with the promise of a Scooby Snack. Together with his close friend Shaggy, he consumes mass quantities of food, ranging from mango milkshakes to chocolate-covered pizzas.

Shaggy
Full Name:Norville Rogers
Shaggy's furry mane gives him his colorful name. A lanky and clowning dimwit, Shaggy is also known for his sloppy appearance, which includes a perpetually ragged t-shirt, brown jeans, and sneakers. Although Shaggy never wants to be a part of solving mysteries, he always musters up his courage and does his part.

Fred Jones
The 16-year-old leader of Mystery, Inc., Fred uses his instincts and insatiable curiosity to lead his fellow detectives into strange places they would ordinarily never enter under any circumstances. Fred usually pieces together the solution to a case with common sense and clear thinking. Presiding over the activities and mayhem, he frequently doles out duties to the rest of the gang and often pairs himself with Daphne.

Daphne Blake
A "now generation" 16-year-old beauty, Daphne has a resilient spirit. Though confined to the same purple, pink, and chartreuse outfit, Daphne still radiates the image of a fashion plate. Her curious nature, similar to Fred's, prompts and eagerness to venture into the unknown because she hopes to become a mystery writer.

Velma Dinkley
The youngest member of the group, Velma projects a plain, tomboy-type presence, complete with spectacles, freckles and cropped hair, which belies the sophisticated infrastructure of her mind. Velma's brain is progammed to provide logical and scientific solutions to complex mysteries. No matter what clues the villain leaves behind, Velma deduces their significance.

Scrappy
Scooby's boisterous little nephew is as annoying as his uncle is cowardly.

Yabba-Doo
A western version of Scooby-Doo, but just a lot braver. Yabba-Doo wears a big brimmed cowboy hat and speaks with a drawl. A little more clumsy than Scooby, Yabba is known to falling into open holes, getting his feet stuck in buckets and walking into closed doors.
